How I work

This is the plain version of how an AFS Designs project works and what we each agree to. Every project also gets its own written quote with the specifics. That quote and this page together are our agreement.

What I do

I design and build custom websites for small businesses. Each project starts with a written quote that lists exactly what is included. If it is not in that quote, it is not part of the project, and I am glad to quote it separately.

What I do not promise

I build your site carefully and to a professional standard. I do not promise a specific business result, such as search ranking, traffic, leads, or sales. I also cannot promise a site that is flawless or never has downtime, since much of that depends on your visitors, your hosting, and services I do not run.

Your part

• Give me the content you want on the site (text, images, logos) in a usable form, and review the work at the points we agree on.
• Own your own hosting, domain, and any other accounts, in your name and paid by you.
• Keep your business and website legal on your side: privacy, accessibility (ADA), and any rules specific to your industry are yours to meet. If you want a specific compliance feature built, tell me and I will put it in the quote.
• Keep your own backups once the site is handed over.

Money

Unless the quote says otherwise, I start once a deposit is paid (usually half), and the balance is due before the site goes live. New work or bigger changes get a plain quote first. If an invoice sits unpaid, I may pause work until it is sorted.

Changes

A couple of rounds of revisions are included at each stage. Beyond that, or once you have approved something and want to change direction, that is new work and I will quote it before starting.

After launch

If something I built is broken or buggy, I fix it, at no charge, for 30 days after launch. That is me standing behind my work. It is not an ongoing care or maintenance plan, and anything new after that is a separate quote.

Hosting and other services

I set your site up on your own hosting; I do not host or run it for you. Third-party services the site uses (hosting, payment processors such as Stripe, plugins, email) belong to those companies and run under their own terms. I am not responsible for their outages, price changes, or decisions.

Who owns what

Once you have paid in full, the website I built for you is yours. I keep my own reusable tools and know-how, and the right to show the finished work in my portfolio. Fonts, stock images, and plugins stay under their own licenses.

The honest limits

I am a one-person studio, not an insurance company. If something goes wrong that is genuinely my fault, the most you can recover from me is what you paid me for that project. I am not responsible for indirect costs such as lost sales, downtime, or lost data, especially on services I do not control. In return, you cover me against claims that come from your content or the way you run your business.

The basics

This agreement is governed by Florida law, and anything that cannot be worked out is handled in the courts of Broward County, Florida. Before that, we will try in good faith to sort it out directly. If we end up in a dispute, whoever is in the right gets their reasonable legal costs back. I work as an independent contractor, not your employee. If any single part of this does not hold up, the rest still stands.
